STOP!!!

Thinking about a martial art for your family.

Genuine Martial Arts have a great deal to offer. A good martial arts instructor could have a huge effect on a persons development not just their ability to defend themselves.

It's upsetting to hear from people getting tied into contracts with martial arts schools charging extremely high prices and with no links to a specific martial art. e.g. Taekwondo, Karate, Ju-Jitsu, Jeet Kune Do, Kung Fu etc

People assume because of the morals associated with martial arts that the club they go along to will be "doing the right thing", but in fact there are a lot of people out there prepared to tell you what you want to hear and take your money.

If you're looking for a martial arts class for you or your children (and I'd highly recommend it) then do yourself a favour and do your homework.

Find out what martial art is being taught? Don't settle for "we teach them all"
Is the club recognised by a national or international governing body? - If not the grades you pay for and train towards are worthless!
Are the instructors qualified and how much experience have they got? A Level 4 instructor given to them by their instructor after a couple of years training is not enough.
Are they DBS checked and insured?
If not they shouldn't be teaching your children

I'll finish by putting it another way. If you or you're child was ill and needed an operation. Who would you like to do it? The guy who makes the beds, does some paperwork, cleans the floors and does the odd operation or the surgeon who's trained for 30 years and is recognised as an expert in their field.
