from the event
Several days before the event...
There was an air of anticipation training
on Thursday in Andover. What would happen? How much would
we raise? Would there be any problems? Would everyone behave?
Would I be able to work all Friday and stay awake for another
24 hours?
The event
Arriving early to set up my mood was quiet
but confident. Kevin Snell arrived early to help me and
we organised the room and facilities. Rachel got ready to
organise the signing in and logging of sponsorship. Janey
gave me a crash course in using her digital camera. We were
ready. Forty-three people signed in BEFORE 6.00 on Friday.
Which translated to £2917 in pledges. Fantastic!!!
Throughout the night ALL black belts took
sessions to make the event enjoyable and fun for everyone.
Even during the GRAVEYARD shift 2.00am to 6.00 am there
was over 40 people training.
We did sparring to music, patterns, self-defence,
line work, stretching, games, step sparring and lots more.
The Holiday Inn did us all proud. They
provided food and drinks throughout the event. We had trays
of sandwiches, lasagne and a full English breakfast.
I would like to give my personal thanks
to Kevin Snell and George Boyland who supported me throughout
the whole time. Also many thanks to Martyn, Richard, Janey,
Ashley, and of course Charles without who the event would
not have been the success it was.
Wow, what a night! Twenty-four hours of
Tae Kwon-Do.
The Day after. I am likening this to a
trip to the doctors.
What is the problem Mr Kerr? (Doctor).
Well!!! It's my toes. feet. ankles. knees, legs generally,
back, shoulder, neck, head, throat, nose and eyes.
But what is the matter? (Doctor)
They ALL hurt!!!!!!
The facts
Everyone had a great (yet tiring) time.
We raise precious money for meningitis.
We also raise awareness of meningitis.
We have raised over £3500 in just one event.
We also have proved that WE have some of the BEST black
belts and students in the TAGB.
Finally thanks for all the support from
my friends and family, especially Rachel who has helped
me throughout the whole process of organising this event.
I would like to thank everyone who took part.
Well done.
Kevin
